deadshallspeak: Naomi and a skeleton. (one final flicker of light)

[Frankly Naomi should be more annoyed with the FBI assigning her a case two days before her vacation was starting up, especially since Little Guy knew well she'd dedicated her Saturday to taking Alyssa to an amusement park. But now that she's here waiting in line for bumper cars with Alyssa, it's not so bad. Her last victim's final words had contributed more than usual to the investigation this time, so two days and a lot of late-night rush work is all that they'd needed to wrap up the case - barely enough, which is why she has a vial of fingerprint powder accidentally stuffed in her pocket and a trigger finger on her cell phone, but she's kept her promise and that's what matters.

And now, their biggest trouble is trying to ignore the fighting couple up ahead near the front of the line. It's not a major argument, just about one of their friends or something, but it's enough that Alyssa looks concerned and Naomi has to try and reassure her.]

It's nothing, Alyssa. Look, it's going to be our turn soon...

[Ema was waiting in line just in front of Naomi. She was planning on being in the U.S. for a while this time, and considering the last time she'd been to an amusement park was to help solve a murder, and she didn't even get to ride on any of the rides. Not to mention she spent most of that time being interrogated by that wolfish interpol agent, and not with Mr. Edgeworth. Overall, a disappointment, even if she did get to help out with her science.

The fighting couple is something Ema notices, as well, but she finds it more rude than worth her concern. They should focus on the ride and not fight like that around other people, if you ask her. Soon enough, though, they're gone, and the next people up to the gate are Ema, Naomi, and Alyssa. Bumper cars weren't usually her thing, but they had the shortest line, and if she was going to maximize her ride time, scientifically speaking, there was no reason to not stop by while she had the time. Because this bumper car round had just started, there were a few minutes left before they'd have their chance. Rather than just wait (which she probably should be doing, but she didn't care that much), she turned to the group behind her, deciding to strike up a conversation.]

Have you been to this amusement park before? This one isn't that old, is it? I don't remember seeing it the last time I was in the area...

[Maybe talking to strangers isn't as usual as she might think, and maybe she should learn from experience, both hers and her friends, but alas. Besides, despite recent events she helped Edgeworth with, Ema is fairly certain that theme parks are safe. No one would kidnap or murder someone while they were still in line, right? Especially not someone with a small child, they're really not the type to do that.]

Well, I guess that would explain it! I've been out of the country for school for a while now, I didn't have much time for visiting theme parks whenever I was back for break.

My name's Ema, by the way. Ema Skye.

It's nice to meet the both of you! [She waves to Alyssa before she turns to answer Naomi's question.]

I'm studying in Germany, actually! A friend of my sister's is a coroner there, so I've been staying with her while I study. [As for what university, she does continue to explain, but assume it's some fictional university in Germany that focuses on forensic science]

[If Naomi's interested, Ema's even moreso upon hearing that she's a medical examiner. Her eyes practically light up as she hears it, very obviously excited to meet someone else in her dream field that she didn't grow up knowing.]

Really? So, you must've solved lots of cases, then, right? I want to be a forensic investigator myself, you know. I've even got an arrangement to take the certification test as soon as I graduate from University!
luminol: (did you say SCIENCE)

[See, she's inclined to agree with Alyssa. There's no need to be modest here, tell her everything about your job. She's more than willing to listen (until their turn on the ride, of course)]

If she's saying it, I'm sure she's got a point! Which cases have you worked on?

[High-profile or not, she's still interested. It's always good to hear from others in your desired field, especially from a woman in a field that was mostly male-dominated. Not that Ema was bothered by that part, but well. It was still nice to see.

But before she can ask more, the ride comes to a stop and everyone currently riding makes their way to the exit. Which means, it's their turn to ride.]

--Oh! It looks like we're up! If you don't mind, maybe we can talk more after we get off!

[When the ride's over, Ema's waiting by the end of the exit line for Naomi and Alyssa. The loud couple from a few spots ahead has since gone on, and who knows where in the park they happened to be. Ema wasn't too concerned with them at the moment, really; she didn't know them, and there was a real forensic expert in the area. Naturally, she wants to learn as much as she can, both about and from Naomi.]

You know, Alyssa's pretty good at bumper cars.

[Food is perfectly okay with her, she'd been feeling a little hungry herself. It'd been a while since the park had opened, and she hadn't had much to eat since breakfast. So, she nods in response to Naomi's question. Getting food and talking about forensics counts as a very good time in her books.]

Sure! Hopefully there won't be too many people getting food right now. Finding a place to sit is always the worst part.
