[Terrorist attacks are never fun. This one ended up being smaller in scale, so there were plenty of doctors available to treat the wounded. And at some point, Lockon here had approached, an unconscious girl in his arms. He had some scrapes himself, but he insisted she be treated first. He'll be waiting outside the OR when Naomi walks out.]

How is she?

She'll be fine. The girl suffered some internal bleeding due to what may have been blunt trauma to her back, but we've done all we can right now. Did she have any identification on her? Someone ought to contact her parents.

[If Milagro hadn't been so insistent on him going, Jaime wouldn't have bothered with the annual crafts fair at the church. As it was, he kind of needed Christmas gifts - and he also didn't want to go alone. So he'd asked Emil!

Granted, he might've phrased it slightly more positively, but a crafts fair is a crafts fair... and Jaime's pretty sure some of these vendors are high on something.] See anything you like so far?

[She takes one last glance behind her, thinking of that girl praying that Alyssa hasn't suffered in all this madness, before continuing on with business.]

She's being taken somewhere where she'll be able to rest and recover. We need to move on. What's your condition?

Me? Just a few cuts I suffered digging through the rubble. Nothing some disinfectant and bandages can't handle. I just need a bit of a patch job and then I can help out around here.

[Naomi raises an eyebrow at that last part.]

Have you had prior medical training?

Hardly. But a person doesn't need medical training to help carry stretchers, give first aid, or get names and insurance, do they?

Nothing yet. [He'd been eying the homemade jellies, not to mention those hot chocolate mixes from the church youth group. The handmade glass mirrors might be weird, and he's not even touching the glass roosters, but the sweaters and food seem harmless enough.]

I think I'll stick to the mall for my parents, but my sister might like the chocolate. [... Maybe he'll buy that glass rooster after all. It'd be a hilarious gift for Paco or one of the Titans.]

[Not impressed. He seems to mean well, but given what they're dealing with here...]

They still must be qualified. Do you believe we can afford to trust just anyone who comes in here and offers to handle our patients?

Look, if I have to get a background check, I will. I'll gladly walk over to the nearest police station, let them take my fingerprints, and run it through whatever databases they can access. And I'm already certified to give first aid. But I'm not going to remain idle through this.

This isn't the first terrorist attack I was involved in. Fourteen years ago, a suicide bomber got over a thousand people, including my parents and little sister. And I was only seventeen at the time -- I couldn't do a damn thing. If I were to sit on the sidelines for another one, I'd never be able to forgive myself, or face my family when I finally get to see them again.

[Good story. Naomi weighs the possibilities, but she's hardly the person to go to for quick faith. Not to mention, if she were to make the wrong choice many people's lives would be in dire danger.]

Look. I'm only one of the doctors here; I can't allow you do anything other than receive treatment for yourself. Get yourself cleaned up and find someone who can authorize, and then we can talk.

[Her eyes flick around the room as she considers the situation for a second.]

Unfortunately, by the time you get that done you should still have more than enough work ahead of you.

[These people worked really hard on their junk, so Jaime can't outright insult them! Plus, he thinks the hippies would try to give him some "special brownies."] Lloyd's a blacksmith, right? Maybe you could find him some tools for his forge or something.

It's also the church crafts fair. I'd be surprised if we found something for one person. [Okay, so maybe his insults are getting less subtle the longer they're in here. Jaime thinks about it for a moment, before he motions for Emil to follow him towards the glass rooster booth.

He's buying one for Paco and/or the Titans!]

Nah, I've just got a weird sense of humor. The fun part'll be watching them open it at our Christmas party. [Jaime has acquired +1 glass rooster. "Are you sure you want to buy this? It looks rather strange, even for a glass rooster."]
